Welcome to my first official blog! My hope is that you’ll find some useful information here that may help you along your own skincare goals.
I am almost 48 years old, and live in Wisconsin. I have had PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) for many, many years. It impacted my life in a lot of ways, one of which being that incredibly embarrassing ability to grow errant hairs where they aren’t supposed to grow. As if that isn’t enough, they tend to become ingrown. I am a picker…I feel like I HAVE to get that hair out so I dig and pick and dig and pick and have ended up with some pretty serious scarring on my face.
My goals in skincare are pretty simple:
- Reduce scarring and hyperpigmentation
- Smoother texture
- Healthy skin barrier
In 2024 I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and underwent a complete hysterectomy. While I am beyond thrilled to be cancer-free, the process of being forced into menopause overnight really messed with my skin. I always had great skin (other than the errant hairs) but all of a sudden my skin was dry and itchy and dull and gross. I’ve never been one to get acne often, but the texture and consistency of my skin changed completely almost overnight.
It’s been a process of research, trial and error, and listening to my skin but I’m making progress. I plan to share my research, thoughts and opinions, and more here. I post (almost) daily on TikTok so be sure to check me out over there, too. I often do Lives while doing my morning and/or evening skincare and talk about the products I use at any given time.
Thanks for taking the time to visit, and I hope I’m able to provide some insight and knowledge for those on a similar path.
